From a very young age, Ann always wanted to be a performer. She thought she would grow up to be a ballerina, but quickly realized that her gift of voice was her true passion.
Ann is the youngest of this dynamic trio, but is number six of seven children. Like her sisters Sandra and Barbara, she was greatly influenced by listening to the 45’s and album recordings played by her older siblings. “There was always music playing in our home”. She was also greatly influenced by Sandra and Barbara. When she was too young to join them on stage, she watched them in awe and couldn’t wait to grow up to be just like them!
She finally had her chance at the age of 14 when she auditioned for a community theatre group. Her two sisters were immediately cast, but Ann was too young and resorted to painting the sets and brewing pots of tea with honey for the company. The following year she auditioned again, this time she knew what to do. She improved her audition material and managed to land a spot in the show! This was the first time The Mantini Sisters performed together on stage and the rest is history.
Along with her performances with The Mantini Sisters, Ann has performed with theatre companies and symphony orchestras across Canada. Some of her theatre credits include Sally Smith in Me and My Girl, Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense, Wendy in Peter Pan, Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes, Kathy Seldon in Singing in The Rain and recreated the role of Diana Barry several times in Canada’s best-loved musical Anne of Green Gables.
When not on stage, Ann is involved with Wellspring Niagara Cancer Support Foundation, an organization that offers free support to people living with cancer and their close supporters. In keeping a promise made to her younger brother Aldo, she was able to motivate people to come together to continue with Aldo’s dream of developing a cancer support centre in Niagara and having it come to reality in less than two years.
Although she claims music to be her first love, she found true love in 2007 when she married her husband Joe. Life is good!
