Sandra’s love for music and singing began at the wise age of 5 where she confessed to her kindergarten teacher that she was going to be a singer when she grew up.
Of the 7 children in her family, Sandra is the “middle child”. While growing up, she experienced the great music of the 50’s and 60’s with her older siblings. “I use to watch American Bandstand with my older sisters and they would dance away on the living room floor! My older brother listened to the likes of Elvis, The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones and I had no choice but to be exposed to all genres of music.” Watching the great MGM movie musicals on Sunday afternoons and the variety shows of the 60’s and 70’s, taught her much about the varied styles of music and entertaining an audience.
At 14, Sandra began singing at church functions then joined a dance band at the age of 17 along with her sister Barbara. Three years later she joined a community theatre group where she had the good fortune to meet Artistic Director and mentor, Alan Lund, and thus her professional musical theatre career began!
In 1982, Sandra was cast in the Canadian production of Singin’ and Dancin’ Tonight! at the Charlottetown Festival in P.E.I. and that year toured Canada with the production. The following year the show was televised and won her a nomination for an ACTRA AWARD in the Best Variety Performer in Television category. Since then, Sandra has performed in a variety of musicals and roles including Anne of Green Gables, Fauntleroy, Ye Gods and Swing!. She was also featured on the all-Canadian cast recording of Anne of Green Gables. Sandra has also made guest appearances with The Fort Erie Friendship Festival Orchestra and Symphony Nova Scotia.
In 1985, while performing in P.E. I., she met her husband, Ian. They have a beautiful daughter, Alessandra, who has graduated as a Broadcast Journalist and pursuing her own acting career.
Since 1997, Sandra’s joy has been performing with Barbara and Ann across Canada and the United States with their own productions. She is the Business Manager for this exciting, versatile, CANADIAN sister act.
